You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair. -Douglas MacArthur

It has been said that youth is wasted on the young, and I have to agree. At seven years old, I stuffed my shirt and couldn’t wait to blossom. At the age of 10, I couldn’t wait to wear high heels. At 13, I wore makeup just because I could go into the drug store and buy one of everything by Wet n Wild. At the age of 33, I can’t wait to change out of an uncomfortable bra, take off my heels and wash the makeup off of my face after a 10-hour work day.

If there is one piece of advice I’d like to pass down to my two-year-old niece, it would be to not waste (or rush) her youth. She is already into my makeup case and wearing my high heels. I hope that she stays as young as the night she woke up at 3 a.m. asking (ok, sreaming) for her “Elmo towel.”

Creating an Age issue has been on my mind for … well, ages. As women, we should embrace our age, our beauty and where we are in our lives. No matter how old, a woman represents so much beauty. If she is young, she has youth, innocence and vibrancy. If she is older, she has maturity, wisdom and experience.

Like wine, I truly believe that women get better as they age. We lose our insecurities as we gain a few unwanted blondes and we treasure each other’s company like we do our favorite anti-aging serum. In this issue, we highlight the ways to care for your body throughout the decades and, if Mother Nature needs a little extra help, we have two pages full of the best anti-aging products.

This summer, if a new wrinkle shows up, greet it. If a new gray hair pops out, schedule an appointment with your colorist. Go to the store without makeup, if you are daring.

Cheers to us women!

Makeup Forever Boutique & Studio at Sephora at The Venetian

It is no secret that I absolutely love all things related to makeup. And this, my friends, is no exception. The Makeup Forever Boutique & Studio caters to what every woman needs: a little help with the brushes. Choose your feature or choose your look, both come complimentary with a product purchase ($40 for Choose Your Feature or $120 for Choose Your Look). Learn how to play up a particular feature or learn how to create an entire new look, step-by-step. After your look is perfected, the makeup artist will draw a custom face chart and send it your email, allowing for an attempt at recreating the look.
