Dr. Souzan El-Eid practices medicine by her core philosophy: “The patient always comes first, all else is secondary.” Among her numerous accolades, she is the first breast surgeon in Las Vegas certified in both ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies.
As a breast surgeon at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), Dr. El-Eid also serves as the director of the Summerlin Breast Center, co-chairperson of the Cancer Committee at Summerlin Hospital as well as director of the Hereditary Breast Cancer Tumor Board.
Originally from Lebanon, Dr. El-Eid graduated high school with a class of nine students. After moving to Nebraska, the oncologist earned her medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Nebraska, finished a surgical critical care fellowship at Wayne State University and completed her residency at Nassau County Medical Center, where she later became the administrative chief resident.
Before moving to Las Vegas in 2009, Dr. El-Eid had been in private practice as a breast surgeon in New York since 1996. In addition, she was medical director at both the Fern Feldman Anolick Breast Center at Benedictine Hospital and the Women’s Health Center at Kingston Hospital. Between 2002 and 2009, Dr. El-Eid served as a Cancer Liaison Physician. In 2006, she was honored for her work as the recipient of the Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award from the Commission on Cancer under the prestigious American College of Surgeons. During the same year, her dedication to medicine lent itself to a political call to action. The health care advocate was elected to be an American Cancer Society ambassador, lobbying for cancer care in Washington, D.C.
After relocating to Southern Nevada, Dr. El-Eid initiated and chaired tumor board conferences at St. Rose San Martin Hospital. The breast surgeon proctors stereotactic procedures and is a reviewer of ultrasound certification applications nationally under the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. El-Eid was chosen as one of the city’s Top Doctors by Las Vegas Life magazine, recognized as a Medical Marvel by Nevada Business magazine, distinguished as one of Southern Nevada’s Top Doctors in Desert Companion magazine and honored among U.S. News & World Reports Top Doctors.
Dr. El-Eid is a member of the Clark County Medical Society Board of Trustees, Nevada State Medical Society and treasurer of Nevada Oncology Society. Additionally, she serves as the Nevada chapter vice president on the National Arab American Medical Association. She participated in clinical trials with the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group and has published and participated in many publications and presentations.
The surgeon considers her work as her favorite hobby, “I believe we all serve a purpose; each person should recognize it and try to fulfill it to its fullest potential. When you like what you do, you don’t go to work.”
The youngest of four siblings, she enjoys reading, traveling, learning different cultures, experiencing different food origins, cooking, exercising, dancing, bicycling and shopping.
