This summer, Communities In Schools of Nevada will offer free meals and snacks to students through its program Summer Nutrition Access Collaboration for Kids (SNACK). Partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Southern Nevada Housing Authority and Three Square, CISN will be serving food at two sites across the Las Vegas Valley including the Archie Grant Center for Academic Excellence and the Marble Manor Community Center.
“During the academic year, some students rely on our food pantries and weekend backpacks to make it through the week as their families cannot afford nutritious foods,” said Terri Clark, CEO of Communities In Schools of Nevada. “SNACK was designed to provide the necessity of basic food to children ages 2-18 over the summer so that they can continue living up to their greatest potential. We are incredibly honored that these three organizations have partnered with us to help serve the children in our community.”
The two community centers will be open for the summer offering a variety of programs and tutor sessions to help students carry on their academic excellence. Snacks will be offered in the morning and lunch will be provided in the afternoon, which will include fresh fruits and vegetables and nutritious nonperishable items purchased in partnership with Three Square.
The Marble Manor Community Center will serve meals June 25 – August 10 and the Archie Grant Center for Academic Excellence is serving now through August 10. For more information on SNACK or summer programming offered to students, please call 702-770-7611 or visit http://cisnevada.org/.
