Greens & Proteins Healthy Kitchen: The salad days of summer made fun and tasty

Greens and Proteins Healthy Kitchen is a casual dining, family friendly café and juice bar offering favorite foods with a healthy twist that look appealing and taste even better. Conveniently located next to a gym, the menu features sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, burgers, vegan, raw and vegetarian-friendly meals, gluten-free carbs, smoothies, juice bar, and a full HCG diet menu.

For the hungry, there is the build-your-own custom meal. Proteins can be grilled, steamed or sautéed and choices include low-fat ostrich, bison, turkey and other proteins. Vegetables are an important component with 14 choices to add to the meal. Grains include mashed sweet potatoes, couscous, brown rice or pasta. Sauces such as peanut, pesto or barbecue sauce top the meal.

In the mood for french fries? Try the tofu fries, which resemble french fries with a seasoned coating and the texture of a potato, and all of the benefits of healthy food with none of the greasy, oily, salty and fat-laden calories.

As Jeff Kovatch, one of the partners, explained, “We wanted our concept to be healthy kitchen where people can go right after working out at the gym.” Along with making the meals economic in price, Kovatch said, “I wanted this to be a place where people come in and can grab a smoothie or shake. But I don’t mean any shake. Our wellness drink contains green grapes, green apples, pineapple, orange, lime, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, collard greens, ginger, flaxseed and ice. When you try it, it is not going to taste like a salad, but blended to make a great taste.”

For those who want to indulge, the soda fountain offers Coke Zero, Light Lemonade and Sprite Zero. The dining room includes free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions and a social atmosphere.
