The Public Education Foundation expects to award more than 440 scholarships

The Public Education Foundation is offering scholarships to high school seniors planning to continue their education at an accredited college, university or other post-secondary institution. This year, the Foundation expects to award more than 440 scholarships totaling more than $600,000. Applications are now available online at

The scholarships, provided by a cross-section of community leaders, businesses, organizations, individuals and families, range from $500 to $10,000 each based on a variety of criteria such as academic achievement, planned area of study or financial need.

Seniors may apply for more than one scholarship.  Applications must be postmarked by February 29, 2012, to be eligible for consideration.  Applicants may also deliver their applications to the Foundation’s office at 3360 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 160, Las Vegas, on or before February 29.

“These scholarships make an enormous difference for so many graduating seniors who wish to continue learning,” said Judi Steele, president of the Foundation.  “We hope parents, teachers and family friends will encourage the seniors they know to apply as we offer a great variety of scholarships thanks to our donors who believe in the value of education and are committed to helping our students.”

Since 1994, the Foundation has awarded more than 2,800 scholarships totaling more than $6.3 million to local high school seniors.
