Janet Runge, Ph.D. is a pioneer in creating challenging and unconventional ways for University of Nevada Las Vegas students to channel their entrepreneurial spirit. She is the founder, architect and coordinator of the school’s undergraduate four-year scholarship Global Entrepreneurship Experience and Founder of the UNLV Center for Entrepreneurship. Dr. Runge’s goal was to bring the intricacies of entrepreneurship to the Executive MBA curriculum. She designed and facilitates the Management of Entrepreneurial Organizations course. Due to her influence, the UNLV EMBA focus is on forward momentum. Dr. Runge mentors, coaches and inspires young female leaders in the technology space. She has volunteered weekends to coach Start Up Weekend competitors, meets with tech entrepreneurs that are struggling, and, along with UNLV students, works with Las Vegas community members. In addition, Dr. Runge served as faculty advisor for 56 entrants (18 winners/finalists) in the Governor’s Cup Business Plan Competition, receiving the inaugural Outstanding Advisor Award. Dr. Runge was recently honored by the National Association of Women Business Owners as a 2011 Woman of Distinction in Education for her efforts in entrepreneurship education.
