Dr. Laurie has been practicing for over 29 years, and her first rule is that she only sees one patient at a time.

What happens when a patient walks into your reception area?
They notice the comfortable, quiet reception area, designed to be more like a living room than a waiting room. Cookies are baked several times a day and offered along with coffee and tea.

What should I expect at my first consultation?
We start building our relationships when we listen to your concerns.

This visit takes about 90 minutes, and I spend about 45 minutes with you. Investing that much time and detail here saves you time and allows you to make sure that we are the best possible fit for you and your needs.

We will discuss what we see, present options and explain the next steps. Patients can see exactly what is going on in their mouth and make an informed choice on how they want to proceed. The timeframe for the ideal treatment can be adjusted to fit the patient’s schedule and budget. We believe that offering this consultation is the best way to educate people about what is available to help them get a healthy smile that will last.

What is it like in the examination room?
During your initial visit, you will receive an executive physical of your mouth, teeth, jaw joints (TMJ) and masticatory muscles. One of the many uses for the 42-inch television in each exam room is that, as a camera takes photos of your mouth, you can see exactly what I see with my magnifying glasses.

What are some of the services you offer?
We are a full-service dental practice that includes full mouth reconstruction, dental implants, TMJ disorder, including treatment for migraines, headaches caused from bite problems, veneers and laser gum therapy.

State-of-the-art dental technology allows our practice to deliver a more accurate and detailed diagnosis. Some of the different types of technology include digital X-rays, intra-oral cameras, computerized bite analysis and lasers for soft and hard tissue applications.

We offer smile design, smile makeover, dental facelifts, instant orthodontics, porcelain veneers, crowns inlays and onlays, tooth bonding, tooth-colored fillings, porcelain fillings, teeth whitening and gum contouring. I have worked with my master dental ceramist for almost 20 years, and he is available for custom shading and discussing the process with you.

What is your philosophy on dental health?
I advocate good internal health, as well as a beautiful smile. The best analogy to explain this concept is that of a home. You can beautify your home, but if the foundation is cracked and shifting, there will be problems and the home can eventually collapse.

It’s the same with teeth. While much can be done to create a beautiful smile, it is essential that any functional problems with the teeth, mouth and gums are addressed and treated. A smile makeover is just cosmetic, while a full mouth reconstruction combines both aesthetics and function.

However, the decision is totally up to the patient, and I strive to make certain each person is empowered with choices.
