E-Mail Offer Of 90 Rooms At $29.90 Plus Many $90 Specials

ROSARITO BEACH HOTEL – As Baja’s largest and most famous beachfront resort welcomes in 2015, it’s also offering a host of specials to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its 1925 founding.

“This is a huge anniversary for us, just 10 years from our centennial, and we plan to make it a grand celebration for visitors and well as the local community,” said Hugo Torres, principal owner of the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Spa, which has grown from 12 to 500 suites and rooms.

Mr. Torres has overseen much of that growth, managing the resort since 1974, a period in which he led the effort to make Rosarito a city independent from Tijuana in 1995, and also twice served as Rosarito mayor, most recently from 2007 to 2010. He is the nephew of the hotel founders.

A highlight of the 90th year will be a gala dinner dance on May 16 in the resort’s El Mexicano ballroom. Also, many anniversary themed specials are being offered between Jan. 1 and May 21.

The first 90 people to respond to an email blast sent out the first week in January can reserve beachfront room in the Coronado Tower for $29.90. Please note that reservations must be made only in response to the email blast. (Valid only Monday to Thursday except for March 20 to 30, April 1 to 12, plus U.S and Mexican holidays as well as special events. Limited rooms per day.)

Deluxe condominiums in the new 17-story Pacifico Tower for $90. (Same restrictions as in the above $29.90 offer).

Standard oceanfront rooms in the Coronado Tower for $90, including getaway dinners for two and a commemorative bottle of wine. (Same restrictions as above apply).

Anniversary specials in the Casa Playa Spa, valid Sunday through Thursday with reservation, include two 40-minute Swedish massages for $90 or a 60-minute facial and 30-minute Swedish massage for $90. The luxurious spa once was the mansion of the founding family.

The Rosarito Beach Hotel, the first large business in what was to become the city, was founded in 1925 as a modest 12-room hunting lodge. As the hotel expanded, the city grew up around it.

Today, the hotel encompasses three towers, restaurants, bars, a luxurious spa and a fishing pier. As well as hosting millions of visitors, the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Spa also offers ownership in its luxurious Pacifico Tower through its Residences condo-hotel program.

The ornate lobby entrance to the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Spa, which also depicts a lovely senorita with guitar, bears this message: Through this door pass the most beautiful women in the world.

Those have included Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Kim Novak, Paulette Goddard, Maria Felix, Dolores Del Rio, Britney Spears and scores more. They mingled among the likes of Frank Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Orson Wells, John Wayne and recently Robert Redford.

Nearby attractions including the Puerto Nuevo lobster village, Guadalupe Valley wine country, Baja Studios (where Titanic was filmed), fishing, nightlife and a flourishing arts and crafts scene continue to attract even more visitors to the resort and region.
