Fortunately, there are many options for correcting vision. There are eyeglasses, contact lenses and surgical options such as LASIK, PRK and implantable lenses. Most people needing correction are a candidate for one, if not all, of these choices for more clear vision.

Zenka modular eyewear is designed to change the color, design or shape of the front of the frame. After selecting a frame in black, brown or a color, the prescription lenses are made for the frame. Then the fun begins as clips can be added in different colors, shapes or patterns that fit onto the front of the frame to change the look for the moment. These frames and clips are made of very high quality materials and manufactured by skilled craftsmen in France. They are extremely light and comfortable to wear even with the clip added. The eyewear design is only limited by the imagination.

Transitions lenses give both a clear lens inside and a tinted lens outside. These lenses provide great protection for the eyes from sun damage.

Transitions lenses for an eyeglass frame give both a clear lens inside and a tinted lens outside. These lenses provide great protection for the eyes from sun damage. They are offered in a brown tint, gray tint or green tint, and they are also available polarized with the Transitions Vantage lens. The Transitions XTRActive lens stays slightly tinted indoors and becomes much darker outdoors than the other Transitions lenses for those who prefer dark sunglasses.

Contact lens materials have become more safe and comfortable to wear. The newer materials are better for dryness, stay cleaner and allow more oxygen to permeate the lens for the cornea. Soft contact lenses are available in daily disposable, bi-weekly disposable or monthly disposable wearing schedules. They are available in a wide range of prescriptions to correct vision for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia (for those people over the age of 40 who need help to see up close). Trendsetter Eyewear is excited to offer the option of color contact lenses and they are finally available in a newer material. The Air Optix Colors lens is much more comfortable for most people to wear than the older Freshlook lens and is available in the Colorblend colors to change the appearance of eye color for the day.

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) are both FDA-approved laser surgery options to correct vision. LASIK is one of the most popular forms of vision corrective surgery performed in the United States. For the newest LASIK surgeries, there are two lasers used to correct vision. The femtosecond laser is used first to create a “flap” or small piece of tissue that can be folded back from the corneal bed and expose deeper layers of the cornea for treatment by the excimer laser to correct vision. PRK is an excimer laser treatment that does not have a flap created and is a safer option for patients with thinner corneas or patients who may be at higher risk of taking a blow to the eye such as UFC fighters. These surgeries create a permanent change to the curvature of the cornea but do not stop normal age-related vision changes from occurring or prevent eye disease. Their purpose is to allow a person to be much more visually functional without eyeglasses or contact lenses, but they may not totally eliminate the need for them.
