Seth Grabel is many things to many people including an illusionist, magician, acrobat and actor with comedic overtones. As a performer, Grabel is also finding ways to continually astound and amaze his audience. As a person, he is incorporating his personal philosophy to share with others. As Grabel tells everyone, “transform your reality … define your illusion.” In 2017 he will be performing feats of mind-bending magic while honoring the traditions of Hawaiian magic.
Before Grabel begins his engagement out of state, he went into the desert outside of Las Vegas to explore what could be found. Grabel would discover magic as seen in his photos and video he posted.
Many might know Grabel when he appeared on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” where Grabel showcased his talent performing AcroMagic. He combines magic and acrobatics, along with sleight-of-hand illusions while engaging with the audience with humor and banter.
Along with entertaining, Grabel wants to share bigger message with his series of videos and appearances. In a released video, Grabel spoke about rejection and persevering. “Just because [someone] says ‘no’ doesn’t mean they don’t like you. It just means at this time they are not the right fit for you and that is okay.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles with a mother who was a professional dancer and a father who was also a magician, Grabel truly discovered magic at 5 years old with tricks that amazed him. “I thought to myself, ‘How in the world did he do that?’ It was beyond explanation and when I saw that, I had to figure out how to do it,” he explained in his video, “Bulldog Persistence.”
He decided he was a magician, kept affirming he was a magician and that became part of his identity. Grabel also understood that it is a business and received a degree in marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
As for working in Hawaii, “I want to honor the true traditions of ancient Hawaiians as I am welcomed here to entertain as well as expand my personal belief system,” Grabel said.
As he continues in his career into 2017, Grabel’s goal is to create something no one has ever witnessed before. He wants to take it to the next level so the audience believes it not only possible but it really happened.
Grabel will be performing in “Magic on Maui” at the Maui Theater in Lahaina at 5 p.m. every Wednesday and Sunday. For tickets, call the Maui Theatre Box Office at 808.856.7900 or book online at sethgrabel.com.
