- Walk us through a typical day in your shoes.
Coffee first thing in the morning; a brisk walk with my wife, Angie, to get the blood flowing; check emails to make sure nothing is pressing that needs to be handled immediately, handle anything that needs attention; work out (six days a week … wait, am I under oath? If so, twice a week); relax (if I have the time); get ready for the show, head out to the show, do the show; come home and try to watch a movie with Angie; then bedtime with Angie laying on my chest. I think that’s our favorite time of day, when she lays her head on my chest and we drift off to sleep.
- Have you ever purchased any As Seen on TV items?
The truth is, I have been a sucker for infomercial stuff my entire life. I have, in the last few years, gotten better, but for Christmas last year, I got everyone in my family the pressure cooker from the TV ads. And I still have 30 BeDazzlers in the garage. Old habits die hard.
- If you could destroy a grade-school photo of yourself, what year would it be and why?
Pretty much all of them. The funny thing is that in the dozens of pictures the photographer took during the session, there was always the one time I would make a face and that is one they would choose to print. I just hope I’m never arrested because I know it would be a horrible mugshot photo they’d pick..
- While grocery shopping, what is your stick-in-the-cart-when-no-one-is-looking item?
It’s Oreos and Mother’s Iced Circus Animal Cookies. When I told Angie this, she still had no idea that I had done that several times since we met earlier this year.
- If we were to look through your device, what is on your hit list or playlist or favorite app?
My favorite app is “Destiny” (for PS4). It really makes playing the game easier and more fun.
- Do you ever play “tourist” in Vegas? If so, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to go to shows. I don’t have a ton of time, but when I do get a little time, Angie and I go to see the shows and do a celebrity chef dinner from the many restaurants to choose from around town.
- What do you do to unwind and relax?
I have a crazy schedule. I still tour as well as perform in Las Vegas for 160 plus nights. The show is over at 9, I get home at 9:30 and, after the adrenaline rush from a packed house and live audience, I don’t begin to come down until about midnight. That’s when it’s time to have a glass of wine with Angie and cuddle. That is the best way to relax in the world.
- Does anyone ever mistake you for someone else?
Brad Pitt? George Clooney? OK, no one is buying that. Without a doubt, Jeff Dunham. It’s not that often, but I do occasionally have someone tell me their favorite character I do is the Dead Terrorist. I politely explain that it’s a different ventriloquist. I think people get confused because their brains can’t grasp a bizzarro world where two ventriloquists are famous!
