The third annual Pigs for the Kids Barbecue Cook-Off and Festival was held at Craig Ranch Regional Park. Along with a spirited barbecue competition, the family friendly event featured a “Piggy Pen” kids’ play area, live bands, beer, wine and plenty of food. The festival also benefited Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The competition offered everyone—from backyard grill masters to professional chefs and restaurateurs—a chance to show their barbecue brilliance in a variety of categories. Teams competed to take home Grand Champion Trophy in five categories: ribs, pork shoulder, sauce, beans and “Hog Wild” where anything goes, as long as it includes pork.
