Life has, unexpectedly, become a party for Melissa Ann Moore. She never thought she would switch paths while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for her dream career in nursing. After working in health care for 10 years, life changed and two years later, she is the general manager of Las Vegas Party Rentals.

Moore admits she does a little bit of everything including checking orders for accuracy, sales, managing the casino party division, payroll, bookkeeping and anything else that needs to be done.

According to Moore, the casino party division can be the most fun. “We set up tables and provide dealers so the guests can let loose as if they were in an actual casino. It isn’t real money though so everyone is relaxed and having a good time.” One of the signature events that Moore really enjoys is when Las Vegas Party Rentals provides casino tables and dealers for a camp in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. She gets to travel there and it is one of her most anticipated locales she gets to go to for work.
Another aspect Moore really enjoys is working with clients from the beginning to tear down. Moore is very hands on and is there through every phase of the planning and execution. “I enjoy being able to help make my customer’s visions for their event a reality.”

Moore was an Air Force brat and grew up in various locations. When her father was finally stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, she was in high school and the family had to move from South Dakota to Southern Nevada. Her father would retire and Moore chose to stay in her new home.

“I worked as a medical assistant in a pediatric office and I didn’t know anything about party rentals,” she explained. “After 10 years, I decided to go back to school to get my degree in nursing.”

While attending college, Moore started working a part-time job at Las Vegas Party Rentals. But due to illness, Moore was unable to continue her studies and knew she needed to pursue a different career. It was during this period that she realized she loved what she was doing and decided to make Las Vegas Party Rentals her career.

When not at work, Moore loves spending time with her family and has rediscovered playing the cello. She played the viola when she was younger, but stopped playing as an adult. Moore recently began to take lessons. While she does all of her playing at home, it is a great creative outlet for her that she thoroughly enjoys.

Like a beautifully played piece of music, Moore orchestrates events with a balance of creativity, professionalism and experience. As for future goals for the business, Moore is developing a party planning division that will focus more on décor. “I personally have designed many centerpieces for weddings and other events and I would like to grow that aspect of the business.”
