Luxury Wedding Design meets Pinterest-Worthy Creativity

Las Vegas is known as the Wedding Capital of the World. It is no surprise that Weddings By Dzign, a full-service event planning, design and coordination company is based in the heart of the Las Vegas Valley. Often on the forefront of the latest wedding trends is department lead, Lucia Tovalin. A one-stop-shop for luxury wedding planning and design, Weddings By Dzign prides itself on doing everything in-house. With in-house departments for floral, linen, lighting, large-format printing, entertainment/talent booking, furniture rental and more, couples are guaranteed a simplified, streamlined planning process when they book Weddings By Dzign for a stunning event.

“When it comes to event planning, the more you have to outsource, the more chances there are for error,” Tovalin said, which explains Weddings By Dzign’s all-encompassing approach to event planning and design. “Within minutes, I can walk down the hallway and check in on everything from floral chandeliers to custom-printed wood signage to handmade birch altars—which is a huge bonus for our clients. We have complete control over every aspect of their wedding, and we personally know every single team member who’s working on any given piece for their event. It makes for a stress-free process for our couples and an extremely cohesive event aesthetic when all is said and done.”

With over 300 weddings each year to her name, Tovalin’s journey in the event-planning world began in 2012 when she accepted a position as the catering manager for Stevie’s Aviation Catering Company. She then helped open Vic Vegas Catering, part of Anthem Sun City, where she managed private events and weddings prior to joining forces with Weddings By Dzign.

“I worked on my first wedding at Vic Vegas Catering and it was extravagant,” Tovalin said of her first job in the industry. “I planned it all, worked directly with the couple and partnered with Weddings By Dzign to provide the décor and floral.” It was then that Tovalin realized she wanted to turn her passion for planning into a career. So, in 2013, she earned her Wedding Coordination and Design Certification from The International School of Hospitality, one of the most highly regarded training schools for the hospitality industry. She then interned at Weddings By Dzign and quickly worked her way up the ranks to a wedding coordinator role and, by 2015, accepted a position as the department’s lead designer.

my talented team turns that vision into a tangible, unforgettable reality.

Tovalin’s favorite part of working as an event designer is “getting to know the couple.” “It is so much fun and it’s a new experience for me every time. I learn about the couple’s personality and how they engage with each other. I then incorporate their personality and interests into their event. We’ve worked with everyone from Cirque performers to couples from countries across the world who host week-long destination wedding celebrations in Las Vegas, and each and every affair we’ve planned has been completely unique as a result.”

From couples that opt to forego traditional floral in lieu of succulents and citrus elements, to underwater-lovers who’ve requested the incorporation of beta fish in their reception design, Tovalin and the entire Weddings By Dzign team have seen (and done) it all when it comes to executing jaw-dropping wedding trends and custom-crafting unexpected design elements.

“With such a seasoned in-house team and tons of high-end equipment at our fingertips, we can create anything a couple desires from scratch,” she said. “We can custom-print on nearly any medium you can think of—wood palettes or mirrors or cork. We can essentially recreate any image a couple finds on Pinterest, but always like to make it unique to the couple.”

Recently, Tovalin coordinated and planned a traditional Indian wedding, working with the couple closely for over a year to strike the perfect balance of classic and creative. “While there were certainly some traditional elements to the wedding, I also loved that the couple wanted to incorporate some out-of-the-box aspects as well,” Tovalin said of the event. “For dessert, for example, we worked with Donut Bar, a super hip donut shop in downtown Las Vegas, to create a custom cake made of Donut Bar’s famous pop-tart donuts. Guests couldn’t stop commenting on the unique take on a wedding cake.”

Wedding trends are constantly changing and traditional formalities more often being replaced with unforgettable, off-the-wall activities and design elements. Weddings By Dzign, with its all-encompassing, in-house team, is uniquely positioned to execute any event vision a couple can dream up. Whether a Southern Nevada resident looking to work closely with designers to execute a vision, or a couple living out of the country looking to hand off the details of their destination wedding, Weddings By Dzign brings event vision to fruition, with unparalleled professionalism, passion and creativity.

“For us, the more creative a couple wants to get the better,” Tovalin said. “It gives our in-house team a chance to really flex their event-design muscles. We’ve created everything from stunning floral chandeliers to whimsical Alice-in-Wonderland-inspired centerpieces to altars that belong on the cover of an Anthropologie catalog. It really is an amazing thing to listen to a couple describe their vision and then work with my talented team to turn that vision into a tangible, unforgettable reality.”
