Sharing the Goals of the VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS and The Folded Flag Foundation

Bill Foley, Chairman, CEO and Governor of the National Hockey League’s 31st franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights, had a vision to build a winning team in the desert while cultivating a philanthropic culture to strengthen the community. The man with a heart of gold inspired two non-profits: Vegas Golden Knights Foundation and The Folded Flag Foundation, each raising dollars and awareness for key local and national issues.
The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, led by President John Coogan, serves as the primary charitable link between the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team and the Las Vegas community. The foundation is focused on five priorities ranging from physical, social and emotional growth of Las Vegas youth to focusing on the Las Vegas military, first responders and their families; and fighting hunger and homelessness.
The foundation raises money for various local non-profits with out-of-the-box fundraising events: 51/49 game raffles, mascot appearances, and signed memorabilia for auctions. This inaugural season generated several thousands of dollars for charities including Grant a Gift for Autism, Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, The Folded Flag Foundation, Vegas Jr. Golden Knights youth hockey teams, and After School All Stars.
“Our goal for 2018 is to ensure the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation is delivering the highest possible community impact to Vegas through creative fundraising, partnerships, and outreach,” said John Coogan, President of the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation and The Folded Flag Foundation. “The Foundation represents the heart of the team and we wish to give back to the community, as Vegas has embraced our team with immense enthusiasm, spirit and open arms.”
The non-profit organization provides 100 percent of its donations directly to Gold Star Families in need. Scholarships and grants are available to qualifying spouses of fallen heroes and their children to assist with a wide range of educational needs.
The Foley Family Food & Wine Society supports the team and the Foundations through fundraising and philanthropic efforts, including flavors and experiences, such as wine and culinary tours and special tastings. Many of their wines are generously donated and featured at various charitable events in the community.
