Ron’s Steakhouse: A hidden gem bringing tradition back to dining
When Ron Lurie was mayor of Las Vegas, many fine dining establishments offering great food, impeccable service and beautiful décor with affordable prices were located in casinos. Now Lurie, executive vice president and general manager at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, has brought back that tradition with a restaurant named after him, Ron’s Steakhouse, located in Arizona Charlie’s Decatur.
While the dining room is actually located in the casino, it is removed from the gaming environment. The décor is warm with very comfortable booths, tables, a private dining room and a secluded corner (arranged by reservation). All meals first begin with a basket of freshly baked bread.
“When I go to a restaurant, if the bread is not good, the meal is not good,” Lurie explained.
“We want people to come here to have a great experience,” Lurie said. “Along with great service, we have a wonderful presentation of the food, which I felt was very important.” This includes tableside preparation of the Caesar salad and lobster bisque as part of the meal (if ordered).
Steak selections include porterhouse, rib eye, certified Angus prime rib, New York steak and filet mignon. Specials include osso bucco, a braised veal shank with white wine and mirepoix served over risotto-style orzo or linguini. Lamb, seafood and chicken are also on the menu. Ron’s features a full wine list and soup or salad is included with each meal.
There is a full dessert menu to pair with after-dinner drinks, such as coffee and dessert drinks to end the meal. Specialties include bananas foster or cherries jubilee prepared tableside and cloud drink made with frangelico, vodka, chocolate syrup, coffee, milk and blended with ice and topped with whipped cream.
Ron’s Steakhouse combines old school Las Vegas tradition with a memorable dining today.
