Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada’s pediatrics division received a donation of handmade fleece blankets from students at Innovations International Charter School of Nevada. One of the IICSN students who helped make the blankets, Melissa Garcia Silva, is a junior and a current pediatrics patient at CCCN. CCCN will use the blankets for pediatric patients receiving treatment for cancer or serious blood disorders. Garcia Silva was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in 2012. According to Garcia Silva, she helped make the blankets because she enjoys giving back to the community and she wanted to do something nice for the other patients at CCCN. After she graduates from high school, Garcia Silva would like to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a goal of becoming a doctor.
