Patti Wise is the managing attorney for Edward M. Bernstein & Associates, handling mass tort and personal injury cases, with an emphasis in brain injuries, catastrophic injuries and pharmaceutical litigation. For almost 20 years, she has concentrated on helping injured Plaintiffs. Wise was trial co-counsel in the Washington v. Teva case, in which a doctor infected patients with Hepatitis by reusing Propofol, which resulted in a $104 million verdict, the seventh largest verdict in the United States for 2011.

“Ever since I was in kindergarten, I wanted to go into law,” she explained. “It was just something I was always interested in. I see the law as exciting and challenging and a chance to assist people who need my help.”

Wise has been selected as one of Nevada’s Top 100 Trial Attorneys since 2007…

Wise obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wyoming, Phi Beta Kappa, before attending University of Wyoming, College of Law to obtain her Juris Doctorate.

Patti WiseAs for her specific fields of practice, “I have always been interested in the brain. I have had some great mentors and neuropsychologists give me background in handling my cases involving brain injuries.” In addition, Wise explains, “Psychology can give a broad base on how to deal with and relate to people. We have psychologists who will come in and help injured Plaintiffs in coping with their injuries.”

She is proud of the experience and reputation of her firm, Edward M. Bernstein & Associates. Ed Bernstein has been practicing for almost 40 years, and the firm has a good reputation in Southern Nevada with prior clients, doctors, judges and other attorneys who don’t practice in the field of personal injury. Wise has also been selected as one of Nevada’s Top 100 Trial Attorneys since 2007 to present by the American Trial Lawyers Association.

She encourages women to consider a career in the legal field. “There are all kinds of fields to specialize in specific to women. When I started in town almost 20 years ago, there weren’t many women as managing attorneys. The larger law firms were mainly managed by men, but Ed gave me the opportunity, when I first started to work for him, to advance in the leadership of the firm. Today, there are more management positions available to women.”

As Managing Attorney, Wise oversees all legal facets of the firm, supervises all legal assistants and attorneys who work at the firm, audits cases, mentors younger attorneys and makes certain that all legal aspects of each case are being handled correctly.

Wise is a member of the Nevada State Bar, American Trial Lawyers Association and Nevada Justice Association, as a sustaining member. She teaches continuing legal education courses to various lawyer groups and gives back to the community as a court-appointed arbitrator for Clark County, where she acts as a judge on cases worth less than $50,000. Wise is active in her church and volunteers for her 9-year-old daughter Savannah’s Girl Scout troop.
